Ripplix vs Otterly.AI: Which AI Visibility Tool Fits Your Team?

An honest comparison of Ripplix and Otterly.AI: engines, prompts, cost at equal prompt counts, agency features and what each tool tells you to fix after the dashboard.

This page is for marketers, small teams and agencies choosing between Otterly.AI and Ripplix. Both track how your brand shows up in AI answers from tools like ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google's AI Overviews. Both are self-serve. Otterly is one of the most popular low-cost tools in this space.

The one-line answer: Otterly is the cheaper way to start, with unlimited seats, Looker Studio and an API from its Standard plan. Ripplix costs less per prompt once you track around 100 prompts or more, and goes further on "what exactly do we fix?" by comparing your page with the page the AI chose instead.

The short answer

Choose Ripplix if...Choose Otterly.AI if...
You want to track around 100 or more prompts for less money. You want the lowest possible entry price, for a small set of prompts.
You want to know why a specific competitor page won the citation, and what to change on your page. You want unlimited team members on every plan, including the cheapest.
You want to find the actual Reddit, Quora and forum threads that shape AI answers. You want an API, an MCP connection or a Looker Studio connector.
You want prompt ideas pulled from real buyer discussions and search behaviour. You are an agency that wants branded Looker Studio reports, pitch workspaces and extra partner prompts.

Otterly.AI and Ripplix at a glance

First, a few terms you will see a lot. AEO (answer engine optimization) and GEO (generative engine optimization) both mean improving how often AI tools mention and recommend you. A prompt is a question you ask an AI tool, such as "best CRM for small agencies." A citation is a link or source the AI shows next to its answer.

Here is how they compare as of October 8, 2026.

What each tool is and who built it

Otterly.AI

Otterly calls itself "an award-winning leading AI Visibility Tracker that is used by 40,000+ marketing professionals."16 It was co-founded in 2024 by Thomas Peham (CEO), Klaus-M. Schremser and Josef Trauner. The company is based in the Vienna area of Austria and works fully remote. It was named a Cool Vendor in Gartner's 2025 Cool Vendors in AI in Marketing report.1

The founders have built software companies before. Schremser founded and exited Gentics and Usersnap, and Trauner helped scale Usersnap. Peham previously led marketing at Storyblok. When Otterly came out of stealth in December 2024, IT Brief reported it had more than 1,000 users and described it as a "fully bootstrapped company," meaning it grew without outside investors.2

Ripplix

Ripplix is also bootstrapped. Its three founders bring nearly four decades of combined experience. Girish Kumar spent 18 years in digital marketing and growth at companies like Amazon and MakeMyTrip. Reshav Singh spent 15 years in SEO and performance marketing, including senior growth roles at MakeMyTrip and upGrad. Nikhil Singh, the CTO, built software and data systems at companies like Tripoto and InnovAccer.

Ripplix started as a growth consulting business. Clients began asking how they showed up in AI answers. The founders answered those questions by hand. They studied AI answers, compared competitor pages, looked at citations and tested changes. Some of those changes produced measurable improvements. Ripplix turns that hands-on work into software.

The consulting side still runs. Ripplix Consulting is a senior-only team for SEO, AEO, GEO, content and performance marketing, and every operator has 10+ years of experience.17

Data, engines and tracking

Engines

Every Otterly plan includes four AI engines: ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Microsoft Copilot. Google AI Mode, Gemini and Claude are extra add-ons.3 Add-on prices rise with your plan:

Add-on engine (per month)LiteStandardPremium
Google AI Mode$9$59$149
Google Gemini$9$59$149
Claude$29$109$439

These are list prices as of October 8, 2026. Otterly tracks Claude through Claude's API, using a Sonnet model with web search.5

Ripplix covers 3 engines on Starter and 4 on Pro and Advanced, from ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI and Perplexity. Enterprise adds Claude, Copilot, Grok and DeepSeek.4

So Otterly includes Copilot and sells Claude on any plan. Ripplix includes Gemini, which Otterly charges extra for. If you need Copilot or Claude without an enterprise contract, Otterly is the easier route.

Metrics

Both tools report the core numbers most buyers expect. Otterly's brand reports include Brand Coverage, a Brand Visibility Index, Share of Voice, Brand Position, a Net Sentiment Score, citations and Domain Coverage. Share of Voice and sentiment are compared against your competitors.8 Share of voice is your share of all brand mentions in your category, compared with competitors. Our guide on how to read share of voice explains it in more detail.

Ripplix covers the same core metrics.4 Both tools check prompts daily.184

Ripplix connects AI visibility to real website visits through referral traffic from AI platforms.7 Otterly handles this differently. It offers a free Looker Studio template for Google Analytics 4, and notes that the template does not include traffic from Google AI Overviews or AI Mode.13 Ripplix also adds a "why visibility changed" timeline. This marks the moments your visibility moved and explains the likely cause, such as a guide that gained citations or outdated pricing that weakened recommendations.7

Prompts: where your question list comes from

If you track questions nobody asks, a high score means little.

Otterly's approach

Otterly's AI Prompt Research tool starts from SEO keywords, a website URL, or your brand and industry. It returns "a list of prompt ideas with intent volume estimates."6 Intent volume is an estimate of demand, not a count of real AI searches. AI tools like ChatGPT do not publish that data.

Otterly's GEO audit also includes a Query Fan-Out tool. When an AI tool answers a question, it often runs several smaller web searches first. Those smaller searches are the fan-out. Otterly shows likely fan-out queries for ChatGPT, Google AI Mode and AI Overviews, and you can add them as tracked prompts.19

Ripplix's approach

Ripplix's Prompt Discovery looks for the questions buyers actually ask. It pulls them from three places:7

  1. Real discussions. Reddit and Quora threads where people ask for advice.
  2. Search behaviour. Google's "People Also Ask" questions.
  3. AI fan-out queries. The sub-questions AI tools search for while answering.

It then groups the prompts into themes. You can also upload your own prompts or keyword themes. Our guide to prompt discovery from buyer questions walks through the method.

The honest catch: Prompt Discovery is on Ripplix's Pro plan and above, not Starter.4 On Starter you bring your own prompt list.

What happens after the dashboard

This is where the two tools differ most. Most tools in this category show you a number went down. The hard part is the next step: what exactly should your team change?

How Otterly handles it: GEO audit and Recommendations

The GEO audit works on one page at a time. Otterly's help centre says: "The check is per page, even if you input your domain URL, the check is only for that one single URL page."10 It has three parts:

  • Crawlability Checker. Shows which AI bots your server and your robots.txt file allow or block. (Robots.txt is a small file that tells bots which parts of your site they may visit.)
  • Content Checker. Checks if content is static or script-loaded, reviews structured data, and runs a readiness analysis.
  • Query Fan-Out. Shows likely fan-out queries, as described above.

The readiness analysis scores your page on 13 writing categories, such as Summary Block, Readability, Paragraph Cohesion and Specificity. Each gets a score from 0 to 100% with "specific recommendations and suggestions on how to improve that aspect of the content."11 This is a real page-level content check, and Lite includes 1,000 GEO audits a month.3

Recommendations work at the brand level. Otterly launched Recommendations in April 2026.20 The feature is in beta. It reads your brand report data and suggests next steps across 15 types. These include crawlability, Reddit, content partnerships, press, YouTube, and creating or improving content. Each item has a "Reasoning" and a "Suggestion," plus a High, Medium or Low impact rating. Recommendations refresh every 7 days, and Lite gets a preview of up to 3 per cycle.9

In Otterly's own example, if ChatGPT keeps citing a competitor's guide, Recommendations flags the gap and suggests content to create or an off-site step.20 Its help page does not say a recommendation compares your page with that cited page, side by side.9

How Ripplix handles it: Win/Loss, Content Optimization and Discussions

Ripplix works on the gap between your page and the one that won. It follows a five-step flow: Monitor, Compare, Understand, Diagnose, Act.7

  • Win/Loss Analysis compares your page with the page the AI cited instead. It scores signals like structured data (code that labels your content for machines), freshness, depth, technical basics, domain authority, answer clarity, structure and comprehensiveness. Then it explains why you lost the citation, gives a recommended next move and builds an action plan. The analysis uses deterministic checks (fixed rules) plus model-assisted scoring.7 Our complete guide to win/loss analysis goes deeper.
  • Content Optimization gives each page an AI-readiness score. It checks your page copy, HTML, schema and robots.txt together, then lists fixes backed by evidence.7
  • Discussions finds the Reddit, Hacker News, Quora and forum threads that shape AI answers. It shows brand and competitor mentions with sentiment, and flags high-impact threads worth joining.7

To be fair, the two tools overlap here. Otterly's GEO audit and Ripplix's Content Optimization both score a single page for AI readiness. The main difference is the comparison. Otterly scores your page against its own checklist. Ripplix's Win/Loss scores your page against the competitor page that took the citation.

A worked example (illustrative)

The brands below are invented. PipeTrack sells CRM software. Its visibility in ChatGPT for "best CRM for small agencies" dropped over three weeks. A rival, Optra, is now recommended in most of those answers.

StepOtterly's approachRipplix's approach
1. Spot the dropBrand Coverage and Share of Voice fall in the brand report.Visibility and share of voice charts show the fall. The "why visibility changed" timeline marks when it started.
2. Find the causeA Recommendation might flag that Optra's content is cited where PipeTrack's is not, with reasoning and an impact rating.Win/Loss compares PipeTrack's agency page with the Optra page ChatGPT cited. It might find the Optra page was updated last month, has a pricing table and uses FAQ schema, while PipeTrack's page shows 2024 pricing.
3. Decide the fixThe team runs a GEO audit on its own page. It might score low on Summary Block and Specificity, with suggestions. The action plan lists specific fixes: update pricing, add a comparison table, add FAQ schema, tighten the opening answer.
4. Check the workThe team re-runs the GEO audit and archives the Recommendation.Content Optimization re-scores the updated page before it goes live.
5. Off-site workA Reddit Recommendation might fire if Optra is cited from Reddit and PipeTrack is not.Discussions surfaces the actual threads where Optra is being recommended, with sentiment.

Both paths lead to useful work. With Otterly, the team links the brand-level signal to its own page, then improves it against Otterly's checklist. With Ripplix, the fix list starts from what the winning page did differently.

Ripplix's customers point to this. Neha, Marketing at Recruit CRM, said: "The useful part wasn't just finding out that we were losing visibility. Ripplix showed us what the competing pages were doing differently and where we could improve."7

Pricing and value: the per-prompt maths

Both tools price mainly by prompts tracked. Here are the self-serve plans at monthly billing, as listed on each pricing page on October 8, 2026.34

Otterly planPricePromptsEngines includedRipplix planPricePromptsEngines
Lite$29154Starter$951003
Standard$1891004Pro$2953004
Premium$4894004Advanced$4955004
EnterpriseCustom (from 1,000 prompts)Custom4 + add-onsEnterpriseCustomCustom7+

A note on Otterly's prices: its pricing page shows a "Monthly" and "Annually 15% off" switch. The same page also shows a second, lower set of prices ($25, $160 and $422) that is not labelled. These look like the yearly-billing prices, but the page does not say so.3 Ripplix gives two months free on annual billing, which brings Starter to $79 a month.4

Cost at the same number of prompts (our arithmetic)

Entry prices alone mislead, because the plans track very different numbers of prompts. So here is the same amount of tracking, priced in each tool.

Prompts you needOtterly monthly costRipplix monthly cost
15$29 (Lite)$95 (Starter, 100 prompts)
100$189 (Standard)$95 (Starter)
100, with Gemini included$248 (Standard + $59 Gemini)$95 (Starter, with Gemini as one of 3 engines)
300$387 (Standard + 2 extra packs of 100 prompts at $99 each)$295 (Pro)
400 to 500$489 (Premium, 400 prompts)$495 (Advanced, 500 prompts)

As a cost per tracked prompt, Otterly works out at $1.93 on Lite ($29 ÷ 15), $1.89 on Standard and $1.22 on Premium. Ripplix works out at $0.95 on Starter ($95 ÷ 100), $0.98 on Pro and $0.99 on Advanced.

This is our own arithmetic from public list prices, checked on October 8, 2026, at monthly billing. So what does it mean?

  • For very small tracking, Otterly is cheaper. If 15 prompts is enough, $29 beats any Ripplix plan.
  • At 100 prompts, Ripplix costs about half as much. $95 versus $189, though Otterly includes a fourth engine (Copilot) and unlimited seats.
  • At 400 to 500 prompts, the gap is small. Ripplix is about 23 cents cheaper per prompt.
  • For Otterly Agency Partners, the gap closes. Partners get 150 prompts on Standard and 500 on Premium.3 That makes Premium $489 ÷ 500 = $0.98 per prompt, about the same as Ripplix's Pro and Advanced plans.

What the per-prompt view leaves out

  • Seats. Otterly includes unlimited team members on every plan.3 Ripplix Starter includes 2 team members. Pro and above are unlimited.4
  • Countries. Otterly lists multi-country support for 50+ countries on every plan.3 Ripplix does not list country options on its pricing page.
  • Optimization work. Ripplix's price includes Win/Loss and Content Optimization credits (1,000 to 6,000 a month).4 Otterly's price includes GEO audits (1,000 to 10,000 a month) and Recommendations (full access from Standard).3

For full plan details, see the Ripplix pricing page.

Agency and team fit

Otterly has a clear agency offer. From Standard, you get unlimited workspaces, each keeping one client's brands, prompts and team access separate. All workspaces share one pool of prompts.14

Agencies on Standard or Premium can also apply to the Agency Partner program. Otterly lists these benefits: more prompts, pitch workspaces for auditing prospects, "Custom reports via Google Looker Studio with your branding," co-marketing and one combined invoice.3 For agencies that send branded client reports, that is a strong package.

Ripplix handles agencies through brand limits on its standard plans. Pro covers 3 brands and 10 competitors. Advanced covers 10 brands and 25 competitors, with 24 months of history. Enterprise has unlimited brands.4

Where Ripplix differs for agencies is depth of diagnosis and the people behind it. An agency can show a client which competitor page beat theirs and why. Advanced includes on-call support, and Enterprise includes active consulting and custom onboarding.4 Because the founders run a senior consulting team, agencies can get help from people who have done AEO work for clients themselves.17

Where Otterly.AI is stronger

  1. Lowest entry price. $29 a month for 15 prompts on 4 engines.3 Ripplix's cheapest plan is $95.
  2. Unlimited seats on every plan. Ripplix Starter has 2.34
  3. Integrations. An API and an MCP server from Standard, plus a Looker Studio connector.153 Ripplix does not list an API or BI connectors.
  4. Engine options on self-serve plans. Copilot is included, and Claude is a paid add-on on every plan.3 On Ripplix, both are Enterprise only.
  5. AI crawler analytics from server logs. Agent Analytics shows which AI bots visit your site and which pages they reach.12

On security, neither tool lists a completed SOC 2 audit. Otterly says a SOC 2 Type II audit is on its roadmap with no date set.21 Both offer single sign-on only on Enterprise.34

Frequently asked questions

Is Otterly.AI cheaper than Ripplix?

For small tracking, yes. Otterly Lite costs $29 a month for 15 prompts, and Ripplix's cheapest plan is $95. At 100 prompts, Ripplix is cheaper: $95 on Starter versus $189 on Otterly Standard, as listed on October 8, 2026.

Does Otterly.AI audit individual pages?

Yes. Otterly's GEO audit checks one URL at a time. It covers crawlability, structured data and a readiness analysis with 13 scored categories and suggestions. Its help pages do not describe comparing your page side by side with the page an AI cited instead. That is what Ripplix's Win/Loss Analysis does.

Does Otterly.AI tell you what to do next?

Yes, through Recommendations (in beta). It suggests brand-level steps, such as content to create or Reddit and press opportunities, each with an impact rating. Full access starts on Standard.

Can I try either tool for free?

Otterly offers a 7-day free trial with 50 prompts and no credit card.22 Ripplix lets you start any self-serve plan without a credit card and see your first snapshot before you commit. Its free AI Visibility Report also needs no credit card.
