This page is for marketing and SEO teams choosing an AI visibility tool. Maybe you already pay for Semrush and wonder if its AI features are enough. Or maybe you are comparing Semrush with a specialist tool like Ripplix before you buy anything.
Here is the one-line answer. Semrush is a huge SEO suite that now also tracks AI answers, and it is a sensible add-on if your team already lives in Semrush. Ripplix is built only for AI search. It gives you more tracked prompts per dollar and goes deeper on why you lost a citation and what to fix next. Many teams will reasonably use both.
The short answer
| Choose Ripplix if... | Choose Semrush if... |
|---|---|
| AI search is a priority and you want a tool focused only on it | You want SEO and AI visibility in one login, under one bill |
| You want 100 or more tracked prompts without paying for add-on packs | You need Semrush's keyword, backlink and site audit data every day |
| You want to see the page AI cited instead of yours, and why it won | You want AI rankings next to Google rankings in the same report |
| You want to find prompts from real conversations on Reddit, Quora and forums | You need an API, an MCP connection or white-label client reports |
| You want practitioners on hand, from email up to active consulting | You are a large company and want a well-known vendor now owned by Adobe |
Two quick definitions. AEO (answer engine optimization) and GEO (generative engine optimization) both mean getting your brand mentioned in AI answers from tools like ChatGPT, Gemini and Google's AI Mode. A prompt is a question someone types into an AI tool. A citation is a link the AI shows as a source for its answer.

Who builds each tool
Semrush
Semrush is one of the best-known SEO (search engine optimization) platforms in the world. Semrush says it is used by 28 million marketers and by 35% of the Fortune 500.10 The same page shows a G2 rating of 4.5 and a Capterra rating of 4.7, as of October 8, 2026.
In November 2025, Adobe agreed to buy Semrush for about $1.9 billion in cash, or $12.00 per share.11 The deal closed on April 28, 2026. The company now calls itself "Semrush, an Adobe company." Adobe says customers can expect "continued investment and an expanded product roadmap as Adobe and Semrush fully integrate."1 Adobe also named products it plans to bring together with Semrush, including Adobe Experience Manager and Adobe LLM Optimizer.
Enterprise AIO became available globally in July 2025.6 Semrush One followed on October 29, 2025.3
Ripplix
Ripplix is newer, smaller and bootstrapped. That means it has no outside investors. It was founded by Girish Kumar, Reshav Singh and Nikhil Singh. Girish has 18 years in digital marketing and growth (Amazon, MakeMyTrip, Aviva, Airtel). Reshav has 15 years in SEO and performance marketing (Info Edge, Snapdeal, Lenskart, then MakeMyTrip and upGrad). Nikhil is the CTO, with a background in software engineering, backend systems and data.
The company started as a growth consulting business. When clients asked why they did or did not show up in AI answers, the founders worked it out by hand. They studied answers, competitors and citations, and tested changes. Some changes produced measurable improvements. Ripplix turns that work into software.
The consulting side still runs. It is a senior-only team where every operator has 10 or more years of experience.12 What the team learns from client work feeds back into the product.
The founders' view: a tool should help you understand why something happened and what to do next.
Data and AI engines covered
Semrush's own pages do not all list the same engines.
- Semrush's help docs for Prompt Tracking list three AI engines: ChatGPT, Google AI Mode and Gemini. They also say only desktop searches are supported for now.5
- Semrush's marketing page FAQ lists ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, SearchGPT, Google AI Mode and Google AI Overviews.10
- Enterprise AIO tracks ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and Gemini, plus Google AI Mode.6 Microsoft Copilot was added in December 2025.7
So for prompts you track yourself on a self-serve plan, go by the help docs. If you need Perplexity or Claude, confirm it with Semrush before you buy.
Ripplix's self-serve plans choose from ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI and Perplexity. Enterprise adds Claude, Copilot, Grok and DeepSeek.4
Semrush's big advantage is everything around the AI data. When Semrush One launched, Semrush said its databases held 27.5 billion keywords, 43 trillion backlinks and 808 million domains.3 A backlink is a link from another site to yours. Ripplix does not have a keyword database, backlink data or Google rank tracking. If you need those, Semrush is the stronger tool.
Semrush also lets you compare AI results side by side with Google, Bing or Baidu results in the same report.5 That helps teams that report SEO and AI together.
Prompts: where your tracked questions come from
A tool is only as good as the questions it tracks. Track the wrong prompts and you get clean charts about questions nobody asks.
How Semrush handles prompts
Semrush built a large database of prompts. At the Semrush One launch, it said this dataset held 90 million prompts and grew daily.3 Its Prompt Research tool shows AI topic volume and intent.8 You then pick prompts to track in Prompt Tracking. Prompt volumes and topics are available in 15 countries, including the US, UK, India, Germany and Japan.5
This is a real strength. You can see how popular a topic is before you track it.
How Ripplix handles prompts
Ripplix's Prompt Discovery starts from places where buyers really talk. It finds questions in Reddit and Quora threads, in People Also Ask boxes on Google, and in AI fan-out queries. Fan-out queries are the related questions and sub-topics an AI model explores while it builds an answer. Ripplix groups the prompts it finds into themes. You can also upload your own prompts or keyword themes.13
The idea is to track questions buyers actually ask, not guesses. Prompt Discovery is on Pro and above. You can read more in our guide to finding the questions buyers really ask AI.
Semrush's database helps you size topics. Ripplix's discovery finds the wording real people use.
What happens after the dashboard
Most AI visibility tools are good at measurement. They show your share of voice, which is the percentage of AI answers that mention you compared with competitors. The harder question is what each tool tells you to do next. (If you are new to the metric, see how to read share of voice.)
What Semrush gives you
Semrush has several features that point toward action:
- Insights and AI Strategic Opportunities. These AI-generated sections offer "actionable recommendations based on your data."8
- Narrative Drivers. This shows the top cited domains and the questions shaping your brand's story. You can use it to plan outreach to influential publishers.
- Cited Page Details. For each cited page, you see the prompts where it was cited and your mention status, including lost mentions. You also get recommendations tailored to the type of source. For example, a forum thread may call for turning forum insights into FAQs on your site.5
- Site Audit checks. These flag missing llms.txt files and pages that block key AI bots in robots.txt.8 An llms.txt file is a short guide to your site written for AI tools. A robots.txt file tells bots which pages they may visit.
Enterprise AIO goes further. In November 2025, Semrush added a Content Audit that maps your top pages to AI prompts and gives each match a fit score. It also added Content Optimization with briefs, live scores and an AI writing assistant.14 In December 2025, it added AI search forecasting. Semrush describes the forecasts as "directional indicators," not promised results.15 In May 2026, it brought content optimization together across its enterprise SEO and AI products.16 These are enterprise features, and their prices are not listed on Semrush's announcements.
What Ripplix gives you
Ripplix follows a five-step flow: Monitor, Compare, Understand, Diagnose, Act.13
- Why visibility changed. A timeline explains turning points. For example, a guide gained citations, or outdated pricing weakened recommendations.
- Win/Loss Analysis. This compares your page with the page AI cited instead. It scores signals like structured data, freshness, depth, technical basics, domain authority, answer clarity, structure and comprehensiveness. It explains why the citation was lost. Then it gives a recommended next move and an action plan. The analysis uses fixed rule-based checks plus model-assisted scoring.
- Discussions. This finds Reddit, Hacker News, Quora and forum threads that shape AI answers. It shows brand and competitor mentions with sentiment. It also flags high-impact threads worth joining.
- Content Optimization. This gives each page an AI-readiness score. It checks your copy, HTML, schema and robots.txt together and lists fixes backed by evidence. Schema is code that labels what your page is about for machines.
For a deeper walk-through, see our complete guide to Win/Loss Analysis.
A worked example (illustrative)
This example is illustrative. PipeTrack and Optra are invented brands, not real clients. PipeTrack sells CRM software. Last month it often appeared in ChatGPT answers to "best CRM for small sales teams." This month it mostly does not. Optra now shows up instead.
| Step | Using the Semrush Toolkit | Using Ripplix |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Spot the drop | Prompt Tracking shows PipeTrack's position fell for the prompt. | Daily tracking shows visibility fell. The "why visibility changed" timeline marks the date. |
| 2. See who won | The Sources tab shows which pages ChatGPT cites now. Cited Page Details shows PipeTrack lost its mention there. | Mentions and citations show Optra's comparison page is now cited. |
| 3. Understand why | Recommendations are tailored to the source type. The team can also pull Optra's backlinks and Google rankings in Semrush. | Win/Loss puts PipeTrack's page next to Optra's page. It finds Optra's page is fresher, has a clear pricing table and uses structured data. |
| 4. Check outside the site | Narrative Drivers lists top cited domains to target for outreach. | Discussions finds a busy Reddit thread where users compare both tools and mention PipeTrack's old pricing. |
| 5. Decide the fix | The team plans changes using the recommendations and its own SEO research. | The action plan lists: update pricing, add a comparison table and schema, refresh the page, and reply in the Reddit thread. |
Both paths can reach a sensible fix. With the Semrush Toolkit, your team does more of the page comparison itself, with excellent SEO data to help. With Ripplix, the comparison and action plan are built in.
One caution for every tool: AI answers change from run to run, so do not react to one bad day. Our piece on how many checks you need before trusting a change explains why.
Pricing and value: the per-prompt maths
Prices below are as listed in Semrush's own help docs and on Ripplix's pricing page on October 8, 2026. All figures are in US dollars per month. The per-prompt numbers are our own arithmetic.
Semrush prices
- AI Visibility Toolkit: $99 per month. It includes 25 tracked prompts, 1 Brand Performance domain and AI checks in Site Audit for up to 100 pages.2
- Extra prompts: 50 more for $60 per month.
- Extra Brand Performance domains: $99 per domain per month.
- Extra users: each teammate needs their own $99 license.
- Semrush One: launched with introductory pricing from $165 per month billed annually.3 Its Starter, Pro+ and Advanced tiers include 50, 100 and 200 prompts.5 Check Semrush's pricing page for current monthly prices.
On free trials, Semrush's pages differ. The Toolkit help docs say the toolkit "does not currently offer a free trial."2 Semrush's AI visibility marketing page offers free 7-day access to its marketing toolkits.10 If a trial matters to you, check the terms at sign-up.
Ripplix prices
Ripplix Starter is $95 per month for 100 prompts. Pro is $295 for 300 prompts, and Advanced is $495 for 500 prompts. Annual billing gives two months free. Enterprise is custom.4 You can start any self-serve plan without a credit card and see your first snapshot before you commit. The free AI Visibility Report is another way to try it first. Full details are on the Ripplix pricing page.
Cost per tracked prompt (our arithmetic, monthly billing)
| Setup | Monthly cost | Tracked prompts | Cost per prompt |
|---|---|---|---|
| Semrush Toolkit | $99 | 25 | $3.96 |
| Semrush Toolkit + one 50-prompt pack | $159 | 75 | $2.12 |
| Semrush Toolkit + two 50-prompt packs | $219 | 125 | $1.75 |
| Semrush Toolkit + six 50-prompt packs | $459 | 325 | $1.41 |
| Ripplix Starter | $95 | 100 | $0.95 |
| Ripplix Pro | $295 | 300 | $0.98 |
| Ripplix Advanced | $495 | 500 | $0.99 |
Here is how to read it. To track about 100 prompts on the Semrush Toolkit, you need two prompt packs. That comes to $219 for 125 prompts. Ripplix Starter tracks 100 prompts for $95.
Team size changes the maths too. On the Toolkit, three people need three licenses. That is 3 × $99 = $297 before any prompt packs. Ripplix Starter includes 2 team members, and Pro includes unlimited members.
Two fair notes on this comparison:
- Semrush One is a different deal. Its price also pays for a full SEO suite. If you need that suite anyway, the AI part comes bundled in. So comparing it per prompt with an AI-only tool is not a like-for-like test.
- Engine counts differ. Semrush's help docs list three engines for Prompt Tracking. Ripplix Starter covers three and Pro covers four.
Agency and team fit
Agencies track many brands, so the cost of adding one matters.
- Semrush Toolkit: 1 Brand Performance domain is included. Each extra domain is $99 per month.2 Semrush offers white-label reports, which let an agency put its own branding on client reports.10
- Ripplix: Starter covers 1 brand, Pro covers 3 and Advanced covers 10. Enterprise covers unlimited brands. Competitor benchmarking grows from 4 to 10 to 25 competitors.4
Our arithmetic for an agency with 10 client brands: Ripplix Advanced covers all ten for $495 per month. On the Semrush Toolkit, 10 Brand Performance domains cost $99 plus 9 × $99, or $990 per month, before extra prompts or users.
Support differs too. Ripplix offers email support on Starter and Pro, on-call support on Advanced, and active consulting on Enterprise.
Where Semrush is stronger
Semrush has clear advantages.
- SEO depth. Keyword research, backlinks, rank tracking and site audits are Semrush's core. Ripplix is not an SEO suite.
- Google and AI in one view. AI results sit next to Google rankings, and prompt volumes help you size topics.
- API, MCP and reporting. Ripplix does not list a public API, BI connectors or SOC 2, and SSO is only mentioned as an Enterprise option on its site.
- Enterprise reach. Enterprise AIO covers more engines, plus 16 countries and 4 languages.6 It also has content audit and forecasting tools.
- Brand trust and backing. Semrush is a long-established vendor, and Adobe now owns it.
- Low extra cost for current customers. If you already pay for Semrush, the Toolkit is a $99 add-on.
Ripplix is stronger on AI-specific diagnosis, prompts per dollar and practitioner support.
Which should you choose?
Choose Semrush if...
- Your team already uses Semrush every day for SEO.
- You want AI tracking and Google rankings in one report.
- You need an API, MCP or white-label reporting.
- You only need a small set of around 25 prompts on a few engines.
- You are a large company that wants Enterprise AIO's wider engine and country coverage.
Choose Ripplix if...
- You want 100 to 500 prompts at under $1 per prompt.
- You want to see the exact page AI cited instead of yours, and why.
- You want to track the forum threads that shape AI answers.
- You manage several brands and want them on one plan.
Or use both
Plenty of teams will do this. Semrush stays as the SEO suite. Ripplix sits next to it as the AI visibility specialist. The two mostly do different jobs. If you are still comparing tools, see our best AEO and GEO tools for 2026 roundup. We also compare Ripplix with Ahrefs Brand Radar, Profound, Peec AI and Scrunch.
